Nwigwe and Uchegbu Law Practice (Nwigwe LP) was originally established in 1983. The firm grew over the years and was reincorporated recently as a partnership with a view to building a world-class law firm.

Since 1983 the firm has expanded both in the scope of services offered and skill to a leading full-service law firm in Nigeria that harnesses the innate but diverse capacities of our team members to address the multi-sectorial and jurisdictional litigation and advisory needs of clients. Our lawyers have legal experience spanning in some cases up to 40 years post call to bar and some hold post-graduate degrees in relevant areas from prestigious universities.

Maersk Nigeria Limited

Acts as solicitors to Maersk Nigeria Limited in various Admiralty matters, Detention and Demurrage recovery matters as well as provide support for the company in respect of invitations by various regulatory agencies.

Indemnity Clubs in the United States of America and others

Acted as counsel in a firm that provided legal services to various Protection and Indemnity Clubs in the United States of America, United Kingdom, and Greece amongst others including British Marine, China P&I on issues relating to Disputes between shippers or Charterers and governmental agencies, Charter party disputes, Cargo claims arising out of carriage by land, sea or air.

Nigerian West Minister Dredging PLC

Acted in a firm that provided legal services to Nigerian West Minister Dredging PLC on a suit involving rig workers.

The Rivers State Government

Acted in a team that provided legal services to the Rivers State Government on various matters including the Value Added Tax dispute, and Oil Mining Licence disputes between Rivers State and other states.

Acted as solicitors in respect of theft of export containers by customers.

Team lead counsel for vessel Owners

Acted as team lead counsel for vessel Owners regarding the theft of a substantial quantity of MGO from the vessel by pirates, offshore Lagos / Cotonou and Qua Iboe and provided legal assistance towards the release of the hostages.
